New schools in Wilmington

Downtown Wilmington is not only attracting entrepreneurs, businesses, and artists - we're now seeing an increase in the number of schools interested in educating our young people here.

Two schools in particular are offering parents and students some great choices in our city. First, we have the DELAWARE DESIGN-LAB HIGH SCHOOL is a tuition-free, public charter school for students in grades 9-12. Click Here to learn more about this exciting new school.

Then we have Freire Charter School, Over the past sixteen years, Freire Charter School has built one of the most respected academic programs in the City of Philadelphia. Its high school campus has received local, state and national awards for educational excellence. Now Freire aims to bring the same level of excellence to the students of Delaware.

On Monday, December 8, Freire Charter School will hold an event where parents, local officials, and community leaders are invited to learn more about the school. Click Here to learn more and RSVP for the December 8 event.

What an incredible night!

Last night hundreds of friends helped us celebrate 20 years of helping to make Downtown Wilmington the place for businesses, residents, students, and visitors to live, work, and play.

We enjoyed great food and music at World Café Live at the Queen and heard from people who have had a vision for Downtown Wilmington for decades and who are thrilled to see that vision become a reality.

I am particularly thrilled with the outpouring of support by so many people who make this community so great – from entrepreneurs to artists to business leaders to law enforcement to elected officials. It really is a matter of bringing all of us together to make everything work.

We were also happy to show the premier of this video:

Twenty years is a significant milestone – I can’t wait to see what the next 20 years have for us!
