There's an artistic transformation taking place in Downtown Wilmington.
Our friends at The Creative Vision Factory worked with the community and turned the back of the Christina Cultural Arts Center from this:
to this:
Michael Kalmbach, Director of the Creative Vision Factory, had this to say:
"I'm so proud of my team, and so very grateful to the Christina Cultural Arts Center-- their community showered this project with love."
I echo Michael's appreciation for our great community.
I think Downtown Wilmington is looking better all the time - and part of that is because of the ongoing facade improvements happening throughout our area.
We just played a part in securing a Main Street Wilmington Façade Program grant of $21,109 for The Delaware Historical Society museum's recently completing restoration of the original façade.
I encourage you to take some time to walk around Downtown Wilmington and see how beautiful the city is.
Our Downtown Community came out to show their support for weekend hours at local businesses Sunday by packing the new Starbucks on Market Street.
Christina Jedra at the News Journal wrote about the effort - here's some excerpts:
Dozens of downtown Wilmington residents bought Starbucks coffee on Sunday in a concerted show of support for one of the few Market Street businesses open seven days a week.
"The whole thing is to give Starbucks a reason to stay open on Sundays and attract other businesses," said Will Minster, director of Business Development for Downtown Visions.

In the afternoon, Wilmington artists gathered to discuss ways to collaborate on projects and improve the city through their talents.
I look forward to seeing our Downtown continue to grow and thrive all week long.
